As the Employment & Learning Advisor at the Hub, I've got the following responsibilities:

  1. Supporting hubbers with skills identification, CV preparation, and communication with employers and training providers.

  2. Conducting one-on-one and group sessions for hubbers, including CV writing, interview skills, and confidence-building.

  3. Updating hubbers on job vacancies and application progress.

  4. Maintaining databases.

  5. Answering queries related to a range of study options, from GCSEs to BTECs, NVQs, A Levels, T Levels, apprenticeships, degrees and more.

My Story

I have a varied background within the realms of careers advice, having worked for colleges and the National Careers Service. My Level 7 PgDip Qualification in Careers Guidance started the path to helping others and it's something I relish.

Having origingally started in journalism after a degree in it, my skillset extends to writing press releases, articles, CVs and cover letters. My good listening and questioning skills are an asset to the role and I am passionate about creating rapport, liaising, and building working relationships with a wide range of people. I am able to offer an insight into the education options available and have a working knowledge of supporting students with UCAS, applying to universities and an experience of sourcing work placements. Personally, I have ADHD and lived mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. I feel that this helps me to identify with the hubbers I see and to be empathetic towards them.
