A K – Employer Bayley
& Sage Head offices

Andrea (not her real name), 24 originally from Ukraine, was referred by Epsom JCP staff for CV support and interview preparation. Andrea has a degree and a master’s in food technology in Ukraine, and more specifically, specialised in milk and dairy product tech with experience in sales management. We worked on interview tips as she had noticed that interviews in the UK were very different from the ones she had done in Ukraine. We provided her with some extra materials to read ahead of the interview. She was low in confidence in her English, but we encouraged her as she had simultaneously started attending the English ESOL classes next door organised by the Ashley Centre collection centre for Ukraine & Refugee Network.
We also talked about techniques to reduce her nerves and she enrolled in the 22nd June Creative Workshop “Improving your Interview Skills” which we hosted in the hub with Nescot performing arts. On that day she learnt new body language, confidence building, and voice projection exercises and techniques to apply in interviews. On her feedback form, Andrea found it useful and helpful.
On the same day, she informed me about an interview for an initial 2-month temp role at Bayley & Sage Head offices as a technical assistant. The interview went very well and that the support the Hub had provided her was a game changer during the interview, plus felt more confident and ready. Also, we highlighted to her that her English had been improving so much. The great news was that the following week Andrea was offered that role and secured the post starting on the 4th of July.
Few weeks after we emailed Andrea to check how the new role was going and offer any further support. She replied and explained that her role was going very well and that seemed that the 2 months contract could be prolonged.
Furthermore, Andrea updated she had recently gone for an assessment day for a 2-year Apprenticeship role with Muller. Andrea managed to travel to Nantwich and did a successful presentation about the Dairy industry, also passed a Level 2 English and Math assessment, and did different teamwork assessments successfully and got offered the apprenticeship position. Andrea shared this has been such a boost of confidence despite the hardship of having to decide what to take. Finally, Andrea has considered pros/cons and decided not to go for the apprenticeship since relocation is a big decision at this stage and she feels very supported & welcomed in Epsom, plus, the role in Bayley & Sage Head has been extended and seems she is going to be made permanent.
