About them
This charity is dedicated to empowering the community with the knowledge and confidence to care for and maintain their bicycles. For some, this means learning simple servicing skills to keep their bikes roadworthy; for others, it offers a pathway to gain the expertise needed to pursue a career in cycle maintenance and repair.
Guided by a team of paid staff, volunteer mechanics, and enthusiastic students, the project breathes new life into unwanted bicycles and their components, recycling and repurposing parts to reduce waste and protect the environment. Whether repairing, servicing, or customising a bike, the team combines sustainability with skill, using both recycled and new parts to meet each rider’s needs.
Above all, Bike Project Surrey is more than a workshop—it is a welcoming community hub. It is a place where people from every background are greeted with warmth, where friendships are forged, and where everyone can feel that they belong. Here, through shared learning and activity, individuals find not only practical skills but also a sense of purpose and connection along life’s ever-turning cycle path.
