As a Volunteer Mentor at the Hub, I am keen to work with those that might benefit from the following:

  • a close, supportive relationship with someone invested in your development and success, who;

    • is a good listener;

    • is experienced and shares this experience in a useful and appropriate way;

    • has no personal agenda;

    • guides you towards the answers you need and helps build confidence;

    • challenges you and provides constructive feedback;

    • respects you and the challenges that you face;

    • gives you exposure to new ideas and ways of thinking;

    • offers advice on identifying and developing strengths;

    • provides guidance on developing a professional network.

Mentoring can offer many personal and professional benefits and is a key service offered by the Epsom & Ewell Hub.

My Story

I took early retirement in 2019 after many years of experience with numerous organisations, predominantly in management roles delivering facilities and support services.

My experience includes leading a variety of in-house and outsourced teams with financial responsibilities ranging from small projects to £50m p.a. budgets. This has resulted in a wide range of knowledge from both private and public sectors, including financial, consultancy, corporate, higher education and police experience.

I am now enjoying the luxury of selective short term work and volunteering in areas that particularly interest me. In addition to mentoring at the Epsom & Ewell Hub, I am also engaged with The Horton, Epsom, an arts and cultural venue in the renovated, Grade II listed former Horton Chapel.
